 Coffee. Coffee is something I cannot live without, its something I dearly love. Here is an article on different type of coffees and which I liked the best!


1. Tamil Nadu Filter Coffee- This coffee is prepared on a traditional filter, mixing the frothing and boiled milk with the decoction obtained by percolation brewing of coffee beans. 


It is believed that on a pilgrimage to Mecca in the 16th century Baba Budan, a revered Sufi saint from Karnataka state, discovered the wonders of coffee. Eager to grow coffee at home, he smuggled seven coffee beans from the Yemeni port of Mocha in his garments. Returning home, he planted the beans on the slopes of the Chandragiri Hills in Chicmagaluru district, Mysore State (present-day Karnataka). This hill range was later named after him as the Baba Budan Hills. His tomb is near Chikmagalur.

Cons- Can be very bitter 😛


2. Kodagu filter coffee- I tasted this marvelous hot beverage this year in Kodagu, the method of preparation is same as in Madras Filter Coffee but the beans is what makes all the difference. 


The soil, rich in humus, on which these beans are grown in Madikeri, Karnataka, flavors infused over several centuries of lush biomass, makes this coffee very strong and special.


Rating- 4.5/5

Pros- Bursting with flavor

Cons- This too can be bitter 😛

(But what's coffee without its bitterness ?)


3. Sukku Kaapi- A herbal infusion which has many nutritional benefits originated from Tamil Nadu.


Used to treat cough, cold, inflammatory issues and anti-digestion. 


Rating- 4.75/5

Pros- Sweet and provides relief in throat region

Cons- Very strong flavor


4. Karupatti Kaapi- A hot beverage again from TN, with many nutritional benefits. 


Weight loss, Internal body cleansing, skin nourishment, relieving joint pain. 


Rating- 3.75/5

Pros- Sweet

Cons- Tastes a bit weird to first-time tasters.
